Get to Know Us
Montclair Records is a production team comprised of producer/engineer Michael Lazarus (Mike Laz) and producer/musician Billy Bad Bones. Built around a soulful,
sample-driven approach, Montclair blends boom bap, soul, and modern hip-hop into a sound that feels rooted in the past while still pushing forward.
With more than a decade of production experience, Montclair has worked
extensively with independent artists and emerging talent, developing records
from the initial idea through the recording, production, mixing and mastering
process. The collective’s work has earned 1M+ Spotify streams, 500,000+
YouTube views, Hot 97 airplay and placements on official Spotify and Apple
Music playlists.
Rather than functioning simply as a beat-making brand, Montclair approaches
each project as a complete creative collaboration, building distinctive sounds
around artists and their identities.
With multiple artist projects currently in development, Montclair Records is now
building its own brand and establishing itself as a home for soulful, forward-
thinking hip-hop built around producers, musicians and artists working
together.
